The Old Trouts were commissioned in 2017 by Vancouver Opera to design the sets, costumes, and puppets for their production of the classic opera by Englebert Humperdinck (the 19th century German composer, not the 1970's English lounge singer, who inexplicably (brilliantly?) chose that as his stage name). Directed by Brenna Corner, now the artistic director of Pacific Opera, it has since played San Diego Opera, Kentucky Opera, and now Calgary Opera.
